Program Overview

The IMO Model Course 7.04 is designed to train cadets to become Officers in Charge of an Engineering Watch (4th Engineer). The course emphasizes marine engineering systems, engine room operations, maintenance, and emergency procedures.

  • Duration: 8 months of academic study + 12 months of sea service
  • Training Facilities: Engine Room Simulator, Maritime Simulation Centre, Auxiliary Machinery Lab
  • Starting Position: Fourth Engineer (4/E)
  • Career Growth: Progression to Third Engineer (3/E), Second Engineer (2/E), and Chief Engineer (C/E)

Training Ship Placement

Students may:

  • Option A: Arrange their own sea service independently
  • Option B: Request AMCOL’s assistance for placement (subject to an additional fee of $3,000, with a 4–6 months waiting period)

Career Opportunities

Graduates begin as Fourth Engineers and can advance to Third Engineer, Second Engineer, and ultimately Chief Engineer positions. Salaries generally start from $2,500–$3,500 USD per month and can reach up to $15,000 USD per month for senior ranks.
